Essential Living Apartment Homes at The Jaunt
Select apartment homes at The Jaunt are reserved for households that meet specific income guidelines supported by the City of Charleston. These homes are offered at reduced rates to qualifying households, with eligibility verified at move-in and annually thereafter.
We are committed to keeping these homes income-based long-term and ensuring they are leased only to households that meet the program’s requirements.
Income Limits
Each year, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) updates the income limits used to determine eligibility. Below are the current maximum allowable household incomes based on unit type:

Determining Eligibility
To qualify for an income-based home at The Jaunt:
- Eligibility is based on the total anticipated gross household income—before taxes—expected in the next 12 months.
- All income sources for all household members are included.
- Income must fall at or below the designated AMI limit for the specific unit type.
- Initial qualification is required at move-in, and annual recertification is required for continued eligibility.
What Counts as Income
Income may include, but is not limited to:
- Wages from employment or self-employment
- Social Security, SSI, disability benefits, or pensions
- Unemployment compensation
- Alimony or child support
- Regular monetary contributions or gifts
- Income from assets such as interest, dividends, or real estate
Application & Verification Process
During the application process, you will provide information about:
- Household size
- Income sources
- Student status
- Financial assets
Our leasing team will verify all household information as required by the program. Verification may include but is not limited to employer documentation, third-party confirmations, review of submitted financial records, or notarized affidavits when needed.

Annual Recertification & Program Requirements
Residents living in income-based homes are required to:
- Complete an annual recertification verifying household income and student status
- Participate in routine program inspections as required by state and federal oversight agencies
